Bellydancing UW Classes
Our organization offers two weekly classes on the Beginner and Intermediate levels. Instruction is provided by an experienced club member on Tuesdays at 7PM for beginners and 8PM for Intermediates. Sunday practice is reserved for preparation for upcoming performances. Check TITU (listed under "Bellydancing Practice") for all of our practice locations. With the exception of weekend events (available every Friday), Central Reservations will post event locations the day of the event. You must be a regular club member to receive continuous lessons through the club. Regular practices are supplemented with mini-workshops, teaching skills such as veil work, zills, and techniques from other dance forms.
In addition to classes offered through Bellydancing UW, there are other excellent Middle Eastern dance courses in the Madison area.
Classes with Mona N'wal
UW Minicourses
You may take courses with our club mentor, Mona N'wal, through the Wisconsin Union Mini-Course office. These classes are held on campus, generally at the Breeze Terrace Union, for 6 weeks. She is available for Beginner and Intermediate lessons. Mona N'wal does not handle registration for
these classes. Please register via phone (608-262-3156, extension 5771), at the Wisconsin
Union Mini-course office, or online (listed under "Belly")
Studio Classes
Studio courses are offered through the Madison Multicultural Dance Center on the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. The studio is located at 1421 S Park Street, Suite 105, across Park Street from the Labor Temple and 1/2 block south of Cargo Coffee. The entrance is on Beld Street (The building has white masonry; the entrance is a bright red door on the back of the building). If you have not had any Middle Eastern dancing classes, please note that the upper-level classes are not learning classes, but technique review. For further information, contact Mona N'wal.
